Fashion and Runway Photography

For seven years I photographed fashion — runways in Los Angeles, New York and Dubai, OC Fashion Week, and editorial shoots for designers and magazines.

The runway

I was house photographer for Art Heart Fashion Week in Los Angeles, and I've photographed collections at New York Fashion Week, Dubai Fashion Week and OC Fashion Week, including the work of Alexis Monsanto and Michael Lombard. Runway is unforgiving: a model reaches the end of the catwalk for a few seconds, under light you don't control, and the picture has to show the garment exactly as the designer made it.

Editorial

Off the runway the work slows down — a bronze satin gown in a stone archway, copper silk in an alcove, black and white beside a tall window. Here I build the light and the set, and direct the model through every frame. My work has been published in magazines in the US and abroad, including cover features — see Published Work.

What fashion taught me

To read light fast, and to direct people clearly and calmly. I bring both to every session in my Irvine studio today. You don't need to know how to pose — telling you what to do is my job. See headshot sessions.
